you can pick your friends

i meant to do this last week, but forgot somehow. anyway. i was digging around and i found my oscar picks for 1999 (i was not too far off the mark that year), so here are my oscar picks for 2001. if they appear a bit jaded, well, perhaps they are. many 2001 movies were overlooked that deserved more nominations: memento being perhaps the most maligned.

you’re right – memento should get best editing. but i seriously doubt they’ll pick ‘a beautiful mind’ over ‘fellowship’ for top honors. and though i loved ‘moulin rouge’, and i’m thrilled that a musical, especially a baz luhrman musical, was nominated for best picture, ‘fellowship’ deserves the award hands down.

You forgot Best Animated Film (new category this year) – or are you just chalking it up to Shrek like everyone else.

Should I consider this your official ballot into the contest??

Wow…I can’t believe it. For the first time, we pretty much disagree on every single category. And, I will once again state that there is no way that anyone on the face of this planet will ever be able to convince me that Shrek is a better movie than Monsters, Inc. Ain’t gonna happen…no way, no how.

So I’m glad that I’m not the only one who thought Shrek was P.O.S. Just didn’t live up to the hype. Wanted to shoot the stupid donkey and how many times are we going to hear Mike Myers do his same scottish accent for a different character. I kept expecting Shrek to say “I Ate A Baby” ala Fat Bastard.

and of course the moral of the entire film – fat girls are ugly.

    I love you.

    awwww…..shucks!
