damage control through exposure

Dixie Chicks - Entertainment Weekly - May 2003 (Click to Enlarge and Uncensor)

while we’re talking radio politics and dixie chicks, it only seems fit to draw your attention to the cover of next week’s entertainment weekly.

good idea? bad move? discuss.

and one more thing… this piece of proposed legislature is creeping its way through the south carolina general assembly.

I love the cover, and am a huge Dixie Chick fan– now more than ever. The backlash against them is ridiculous! Whether you agree or disagree, isn’t freedom of expression one of the best things about being an American? (or atleast it was) Anyway, the Dixie Chicks rock! They have been on my heavy rotation playlist for years now, and they just keep getting better.

On a side note, I swear if this idiot king gets re-elected (assuming he ever was to begin with) I’m moving to Canada! I threatened the first time, but now I’m getting closer, in NH. ;) It’s a real shame… 1000 points of light, and WE got the dim one. Ugh!

P.S. IMO, Natalie looked better with a little meat on her bones…it’s a real shame that there’s an inverse relationship between curvy women and fame. I think that most honest folk would prefer a little extra T&A over stick figures any day ;) .

I could go on for days– on both of these topics, but I’ll climb down off of my soap box, get some oxygen, and pour myself a stiff drink. What a bunch of “merde”!

OK I say it again after just having to watch the stupid Diane Sawyer interview. I DO NOT CARE. THEY SUCKED BEFORE THEY SUCK NOW AND THEY WILL ALWAYS SUCK and dress poorly. Regardless on wether or not I agree on them. No one should care. And they are eating up this attention that they so DO NOT DESERVE.. THERE I said IT!

Let me just say that that is one fucking brilliant publicist.

    and a good airbrusher…

The DC’s aren’t being criticized for “speaking out”, the criticism is related to what they said. They are free to prostrate themselves in front of brits all day long, but they don’t have a right to not be criticized for being idiots. That’s free speech too. I wonder if Bruce Springsteen will come out on behalf of other people currently being criticized for their views. Didn’t some Senator make a slam on homosexuals recently? Will Bruce rush to his defense?

Idiots? What planet are you on? If they don’t agree, they don’t agree. They are entitled to not agree and they are entitled to say that. Why is it idiotic to question our government? Why is unquestioning acceptance not idiotic? At least the Dixie Chicks aren’t being cowardly about what they think, and I respect them for that. This country could use more people who say what they think and what is in their hearts and minds rather than saying what is easy and what brings in more cash. We could use more people who have and ask tough questions rather than more sheep.
