middle earth in south georgia

when in rome, do as the romans… when in americus, seek out entertainment that doesn’t involve local livestock. and so, i’ve decided to go to the local cinema to catch my second showing of return of the king. i mean, hey… they’ve got cupholders!

That is hysterical and the fact the movie is $3.00.. Just stunns me.

I would thank you not to make fun of small town Carmike Cinemas, please. The Carmike in Calhoun just got cup holders last year, but we still don’t have high backs on the chairs.

I grew up on Carmikes. The Southgate Five Six in Fort Oglethorpe was my first theatre home.

I still miss the Christmastime advertisements that used to run for a solid ten minutes before winter shows.

The never-ending slide show with loud, crappy christmas music? They rocked!

Five or six screens? Luxury! We still only have three screens…and I think Home Alone is still playing on one of them. (Seriously, that movie played for three months after Christmas.)

There’s still a Carmike in Athens. I think we went there when I still lived there, as well. Speaking of ROTK, we were apparently on TV last night — but the person who told Alyssa didn’t say what station.

We actually work with Carmike Theatres all over the southeast… but the women who work there are DUMBASSES… just sayin. I’ve never been overly impressed with their establishments.

  • Nikki

They used to be THE THING in the southeast from what I understand. Now, they are a bit run down.
