If you’re a human, you’ve been out in this summer-already sunlight, searching for bargains at unmentionable big box department stores and rehearsing for scenes with less than 70% of your actors accounted for. But all was not lost. We re-blocked a tricky scene involving a prisoner exchange and bought two bolts of white-ish fabric. The bolts will become massive curtains before the week is out. And besides, we’re doing this same scene on Tuesday, closer to sunset. Like I said … things are going well.
To be done: Arrange some manner of sound equipment for the show. We’re not mic-ing our actors (Pro-ject!), but incidental and pre-show music is rather key. Basically, we need a benevolent mobile DJ to let us use a pair of their speakers and a soundboard for four nights in May. We can’t pay them, but we’ll give them massive props in the program. So if you know somebody, send them my way.
To be done: Build some flats. I was supposed to have learned this art in college as part of my scene design class. And I did. But that was 12 years ago. If I remember correctly, it is just a matter of framing out what I need with lengths of 1″x2″, covering said frame with cloth (muslin? canvas?) and coating the whole thing with either paint or a mixture of water and glue.
Um. I’ll figure it out. And hey, if anybody local is feeling industrious and wants to lend a handy hand, I won’t say no. There might even be beer.
