Answer The Question

Vic Sage Has A Posse.Vic Sage has a posse.

The DC Comics solicits* for April 2007 are out. Included in this round is one of the last five covers of 52. The cover art by J. G. Jones has been excellent from issue #1, each one filled with visual homages to old monster movies, WPA posters, film noir cliches, and even 16th century art. But I’m all about what Jones has done for #48.

It is little more than a graffiti stencil on a peeling grey wall, but I love the very idea of The Question becoming an subversive underground icon or the symbol of some kind of resistance movement. It makes perfect sense. His image would fill the DCU like the face of Andre the Giant does here. Or Charles Darwin. Or that creepy monkey in a suit that pops up from time to time here in Atlanta.

* – Solicits act as “coming attractions” notices for scheduled issues, trade collections and so on. Since the comic book industry operates on a time-shifted schedule where comics that hit the streets in January are marked for March, the April solicits are dated for June, but will come out around tax day? Got it?
