I made this.

Oscaring Wildly In 2009

Warning: I would be willing to bet that I watched fewer big-screen films in 2008 than I have ever in the 13 years I’ve lived in and around Atlanta. Keep this in mind as you scroll your way through this stack of incredibly conjectural predictions. To add a little credibility, I’ll do the courtesy of dropping an asterisk(*) next to those titles that actually flashed before my seated eyes.

Why yes, we are starting auditions tonight. How could you possibly tell?

But I Want His Wings

Watching a musician work magic with a sequencer isn’t new. Imogen Heap does it all the time. SoCon-clusion

I debated about whether or not I could contribute anything further to the post-SoCon ‘09 conversation. I was there to absorb and learn, after all. And yet, there was something …

I moved to Atlanta during the same year I started spending more and more time online. As much as I can deride the service harshly from a fair distance of fourteen years (and I do often), AOL was king in 1995. When I went online, I would head straight to the Chat Rooms. Atlanta had it’s own. Never much for Buckhead, the AOL chat rooms provided an entertaining means of meeting people, albeit virtually. From these chat-room free-for-alls would surface a suggestion to gather. Like … for real. Pick a destination. Let’s get together and see what we all look like! So one Friday night, I stepped away from my keyboard, put on a clean pair of jeans and went to … God help me … American Pie. (more…)

Levity Is Alive On Capitol Hill

It would appear that Senator Tom Coburn is feeling a bit frivolous these days. I don’t know the man from Adam’s own house cat, but based on the language employed in his proposed amendment to HR1: The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (aka The Big Stimulus Bill), the Senator cannot resist an opportunity for some almost hidden snark.

There are several amendments in play for HR1 and Senator Coburn’s is only one in almost two-hundred. But if you take a gander at SA 175, you’ll be met with some curious verbiage. (more…)
