Tea With The Dream King: a Neil Gaiman Interview (A JIVE Re-Post)

3:00pm. That’s when we were scheduled to meet Neil in the restaurant at the Park Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. So there we were. Right on time. And waiting for us with a smile was the hostess. “Hello,” I said with the awkward presentation of someone walking into a restaurant with no intention of actually

A Different Kind of Game: The Phenomena of Milliways Bar (A JIVE Re-Post)

This article was posted originally on 03/22/2005 at JIVE Magazine, an Atlanta-based print/web magazine. Sadly, the website is no longer active. But seeing as I’m still proud of the work, I’ll be re-posting articles here as I see fit. Today’s re-post is inspired by an article in the Atlantic about joining a Social Media network

Meme’d

You have a choice. Either stay here and read this meme-thing, or go over to JIVE to see my review of Elizabethtown. (You stayed? Damn.) I don’t even know where this particular meme started. But I’ve been tagged by the red-painted pirate, so I will comply. What were three of the stupidest things you have

Collecting Some Thoughts

I’ve been posting elsewhere. Two short music reviews (Sinead O’Connor & Motown Remixed) for JIVE. A not-at-all-clique-y restaurant review on Metroblogging Atlanta. A new set of auto part mystery photos on Flickr. Those last two items are more connected than they might appear.

Now With More Portfolio

This is just cool. Choyce, the JIVE Magazine HTML Wrangler, has been making some serious modifications to the mechanics of the website. Ground effects, hydraulics, spinning chrome rims, subwoofers, a WYSIWYG content editor and best of all: Work-at-a-glance profile pages for each JIVE writer.

Familiar Thunderous Applause

With few exceptions, I try to keep [modern, nightly news] politics out of my movie and music reviews. After all, works of art ought to be capable of maintaining an existence beyond the immediate present, so one shouldn’t use only the most immediate mirrors available when judging their worth. In other words, while I couldn’t

Party’s Over, Kids

Did I say we’d be back to normal on Monday? I must’ve been lying. I meant to say Saturday. As in today. Everyone give Jen a wonderful round of virtual applause as she shuffles back over to her own blog. To celebrate my return, I should have a stupendously spectacular post all typed-up and ready-to-fly

In The Name Of Art

Yes … … there is a story here. Why do you ask?

Thumbs On

Sometimes a gimmick creeps into your work. Sometimes, such gimmicks are fun. Hence, my rather encyclopedic review for Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
