They’re Reading Our Story

A huge blurred face.

Another thing.

I’ve just learned that this week is National De-Lurking Week for 2007. I’m not sure who decides such things, but there you have it. If other people (here and here and here, just to name three) believe it, then it must be true.

Besides, I celebrated the occasion last year.

So if you’re lurking, stop it. Just take a deep breath and post a comment. It won’t hurt. You don’t have to be profound or prophetic. Just say “Hello” or “I like ham” or whatever floats. Okay?

Now, get to it.

(The image is from Animal Man #24, written by Grant Morrison and published by DC Comics way back in 1990. The neat thing about that comic’s protagonist, Buddy Baker, is that he learned the truth of his superheroic existence. He discovered the world outside his two-dimensional comic book life. He even encountered Mr Morrison himself, his very own writer, in issue 26. Though subsequent issues took place in a slightly different reality based on that conversation, Buddy knew from that point on that somewhere outside his perceptions, people were reading his story and cheering him on.)

  1. I love that page! Too funny!

I get your feed at LJ, so it’s more involved to comment.

Most ppl these days just lurk, I think. Some of it is due to the bullshit ways we bloggers have to control comments. TypeKey is fair, at best, and many ppl don’t want to go through all that just to say HI. I don’t have TK on my comments, however, I’ve had to lock them down to the point that everything is moderated – even MY comments! It’s a trade off. I post periodically about the comments thing to remind folks that I DO get the comments and I DO publish them usually within 48 hours.

    Eh, whattaya gonna do?

Anyway, nice commenting to ya! Have a great weekend.

  2. A whole week huh? Martin Luther King, Jr. only gets a day! Your post was on Thursday, so I guess I’m late. Sorry.
