Surprise #2. This article is actually interesting. Maybe a bit encouraging.

It turns out that our patch of suburbia is not drenched in red as deeply as one might think. In fact, on the basis of money alone (for indeed, money is all that is reported), I’d say that our ZIP code is a rather even shade of purple that only slightly skews in hue toward violet.

To put this in a far too geektastic perspective, the #FF0000 contingent of our neighborhood is hoping that the overall political mix is somewhere around #993333. But our hidden #3366FF friends can take comfort in the fact that the combination is closer to #993366.

Right?
