Everybody’s talking about Andi’s column. (Here, here, here, here, here, here and here.) I suppose this is where I offer my own two cents, but first … let’s watch Jon Voight walk a hole in his cowboy boots, shall we?

Now, where were we? Ah, yes … I remember.

(Apropos of nothing, Andi’s new by-line photo makes him look like Doctor Manhattan from DC’s Watchmen. This isn’t so much of an insult as an observation. Doctor Manhattan had the ability to be in all places and all times at once. This has absolutely nothing to do with the article. I’m just being a geek.)

Anyway, about the kerfuffle …

Good for Andi and better for everybody else, because any reciprocal circle of links always results in an increase of readership for the parties involved. Lord knows that Creative Loafing can use the exposure.

As far as my opinion goes, the five bloggers he listed all seem to be decent and talented folks. His assessment of Atlanta’s current crop of bloggers is incredibly dismissive, but not surprising. He’s being consistent, staying in line with the comments I’ve seen him make at Duane’s blog and elsewhere. He’s a real writer for a real newspaper and the rest of us are just pretending. Down in the gutter are we all, like Oscar Wilde said.

Of course, anyone who felt left out by not being on Andi’s list shouldn’t feel too bad. There have been other lists in the past and there will be more in the future.
